Choosing heated grips starts with measurements. Measure the existing grips, establish the handlebar diameter and check compatibility with the particular motorcycle. Confirm that its 12-volt electrical system has adequate capacity, too. A similar appearance alone does not establish a suitable fit.
Oxford’s HotGrips Advanced Integrated range illustrates the differences. Designed for 22 mm handlebars, the Touring version measures 120 mm and may be shortened to 110 mm; the Adventure version measures 132 mm, with a minimum trimmed length of 122 mm. Even grips in the same range can have different dimensions.
Freedom of movement matters during fitting. The left and right internal diameters differ because the right grip goes over the throttle tube. A bar-end weight must not hinder the throttle’s return, and cables must not restrict the brake or clutch lever. Check the fit before applying adhesive; trim only within the specified limits to protect the heating elements.
Prepare a short shopping checklist: motorcycle model and year, measured grip length, handlebar diameter and fitted bar-end accessories. If compatibility or installation is uncertain, consult the retailer or a mechanic.
