The Aurlandsfjellet scenic road connects Lærdalsøyri and Aurlandsvangen. Its 47 kilometres rise to 1,308 metres above sea level. The mountain crossing closes in winter, while access from Aurlandsvangen to Stegastein is maintained year-round. Check current restrictions before riding: night-time or bad-weather closures can occur.

The appeal lies in the transition from green slopes to a rocky high plateau. Stegastein offers a view from 650 metres above the fjord, while Flotane provides a stop to stretch your legs. Space at Stegastein is limited and peak-season traffic can be heavy.

Allow time for stops and changing weather on a motorcycle trip. For a loop, combine the mountain section with the Lærdal Tunnel; check its traffic information on the day as well.
