The BMW F 450 R is a new unfaired road motorcycle in the 48 hp class. Its parallel-twin engine produces 35 kW, while the stated ready-to-ride weight is 175 kg. Those figures point to the model’s purpose: a compact everyday machine with manageable proportions and an accessible seat, rather than a large touring motorcycle built around carrying capacity.
The standard seat is 790 mm high and the fuel tank holds 14 litres. Every variant gets a 6.5-inch colour display, heated grips and Rain, Road and Dynamic riding modes. That also sets it apart from the separately announced F 450 RR: the R focuses on the open ergonomics of a street bike instead of fully faired supersport styling.
The most distinctive option is Easy Ride Clutch. It engages the clutch according to engine speed and, paired with Shift Assistant Pro, allows riding and shifting without routine manual clutch operation; the lever remains available. This is not a separate automatic gearbox. BMW offers the system from the factory on the M Sport with Innovation Package, with a retrofit option for the other variants.
