The BMW F 450 RR is a new supersport motorcycle in the 35 kW, or 48 hp, class, meeting the European A2 power limit. Its 420 cc parallel twin produces 43 Nm of torque, while the ready-to-ride motorcycle weighs 177 kg. Within the F 450 family, the RR has been developed as a distinct sports model rather than an F 450 GS wearing different bodywork.

The differences include chassis geometry tuned for sporty riding, 17-inch wheels and a more forward-focused riding position. A 135-degree crankpin offset gives the engine its distinctive firing character; a balance shaft helps keep vibration in check. Rain, Road and Race riding modes come as standard, alongside ABS Pro and traction control. BMW is bringing features often associated with larger sport bikes to a machine with a more manageable power output.

An intriguing option is Easy Ride Clutch. It engages according to engine speed and, with the shift assistant, reduces the need to use the clutch lever in ordinary riding; the lever remains available for deliberate input. BMW offers Base, Sport and two M Sport versions, with the system included in the top variant’s Innovation Package. The F 450 RR is intended for both winding roads and track sessions, though a ride in person will be the best way to judge whether its ergonomics suit a particular rider.
