The Bonette road links the Ubaye and Tinée valleys in the southern French Alps. The pass stands at 2,715 metres, while the paved loop around Cime de la Bonette reaches 2,802 metres. That distinction clarifies the route: its highest road section is an extra loop beside the pass.

Remains of Alpine Maginot Line military works survive on both slopes. Above the road, a footpath leads to a viewpoint at 2,860 metres, with an orientation table and a broad mountain panorama. Allow separate time for the motorcycle stop and the walk.

Road conditions determine the travel date. The Bonette, Allos and Cayolle passes close in winter, but navigation systems may overlook this. Check current traffic information before departure; an approach to Ubaye from the south uses the A51 to Tallard, then continues towards Barcelonnette.
