With Hub Line, Bosch is offering a bicycle motor housed in a wheel hub for the first time. It is designed for everyday city riding, where a compact layout and straightforward controls matter. The motor weighs about 2.3 kilograms and has a maximum torque of 45 Nm.
Hub Line forms part of Bosch’s smart system. Assistance in Auto mode adapts to the ride, while the eBike Flow app provides personalisation and digital theft-protection functions. Bosch says the Hub Line motor and PowerTube 360 battery together weigh just under five kilograms; that is not the weight of the whole bicycle.
Compatibility deserves a closer look before purchase. Although the motor connects to some smart-system features, Hub Line cannot be combined with every Bosch battery, riding mode or braking assistance product. Check the equipment and functions of the particular bicycle rather than assuming that every component in one system will work together.
