A traditional Brooks leather saddle gradually conforms to its rider. Caring for it involves both the leather surface and its tension: together, these help preserve the saddle’s shape and support.

Brooks specifies Proofide for its leather saddles. Apply a small amount to the upper surface, allow it to absorb and dry, then polish with a soft cloth. Leave the underside coating in place to protect against moisture and dirt. Follow the instructions for your particular saddle for ongoing care.

After a soaking, let the saddle air-dry naturally away from heat, and avoid riding it while saturated. Never tension wet leather. If pronounced sagging develops, check tension according to the instructions and avoid overtightening. Wipe metal components dry after rain as well.
