Near Ventspils, the Lake Būšnieki nature trail forms a loop of about eight kilometres. Cyclists share it with walkers, runners and birdwatchers. Its appeal lies less in speed than in the chance to enjoy forest, water and quiet views on one short ride.

A protected nature area borders the western shore. In the marshy section, a 187-metre boardwalk leads to a birdwatching platform. For cyclists, it makes a good place to dismount and take time over the view. The trail also has places to rest and bicycle parking.

Lake Būšnieki is only about one and a half kilometres from the Baltic Sea, yet this loop follows the lake and forest rather than a seafront promenade. The modest distance leaves room for a relaxed pace. Because many people use the trail, ride considerately and leave space for others, especially near the boardwalk and rest areas.
