Bicycle news is not only about sport, infrastructure or weekend routes. Another segment is becoming more visible in European cities: cargo bikes that can replace some small delivery and service trips over short distances.

The European Cyclists' Federation cycle logistics section presents this as a practical urban logistics tool. The idea is simple: where a van loses time in traffic and parking, a well-equipped cargo bike can be faster, quieter and cheaper.

This is not only about couriers. Cargo bikes are also used by families, tradespeople, small shops and services that need to move tools, goods or children around the city without the cost and space demands of a larger vehicle.

In Latvia, the segment still feels niche, but the conditions are improving: more e-bikes, better infrastructure, greater interest in micromobility and businesses looking for more efficient last-mile options.

For Bike.lv, the cargo bike is an interesting market signal. It is not just another listing category, but a tool that changes the question from “do I need a car?” to “how many everyday trips can I solve differently?”
