The Classified Powershift hub provides two ratios: 1:1 and a 0.686 reduction. The latter works much like moving to a smaller front chainring. A shift command travels wirelessly from the handlebar unit to the smart thru axle, while the actual gear change happens inside the hub.
The manufacturer’s Powershift set specification lists a road and gravel version for 142 mm spacing and a 12 mm axle. It requires Center Lock disc brakes and a Classified cassette. This makes it a system of compatible components to assess together.
For the rider, the useful questions concern overall range and the steps between gears. Before a conversion, compare the desired easiest and hardest gears with your current drivetrain, and discuss wheel, frame and control compatibility with a workshop.
