Victoria's Great Ocean Road begins at Torquay and runs west to Warrnambool. The region's official touring guide singles out the stretch between Lorne and Apollo Bay as especially scenic. On a motorcycle, the attraction goes beyond the bends: ocean swell, steep cliffs, quiet bays and green forest appear within one journey. It is a road that rewards stopping to take in the landscape beyond a helmet visor.

The coast changes character as the route moves west. One stop may be dominated by a surf beach; another by tall limestone cliffs and rock stacks rising offshore. The journey also offers the chance to turn toward rainforest or pause in a small seaside town. That variety argues for shorter riding days rather than a race to the end of the road. Leaving time for viewpoints makes each section feel distinct.

There is room to extend the trip beyond the coast. Visit Victoria suggests continuing inland toward the Grampians and the state's historic Goldfields. That option changes the mood of the journey from a coastal ride to a wider exploration of Victoria. The Great Ocean Road itself, though, is at its best without a rigid finishing schedule: each new view of the Southern Ocean can become the next place to stop.
