The Hells Canyon BDR-X is an approximately 837-kilometre adventure motorcycle loop around the Snake River gorge in the northwestern United States. It explores both the Oregon and Idaho sides, dropping from high viewpoints to the river before climbing back into the mountains. Its creators describe the main route as moderate, with optional harder sections for experienced off-road riders.

Riders can start in Joseph, Oregon, and typically complete the loop in three to five days. A sensible schedule depends on the rider’s pace rather than the number of sections on the map. The longest stretch between fuel stops is about 217 kilometres, and optional extensions can make it longer. Checking the motorcycle’s range and planning fuel stops in advance is essential.

The route changes elevation by more than 1,500 metres, bringing substantial temperature differences into a single trip. Its organisers recommend late May to mid-October as the main riding window; snow and seasonal road closures can affect either end of that period. For a future-season trip, the latest route map, GPS track and road-condition updates are useful planning tools.
