India sits at the centre of Honda’s motorcycle growth plans. The company aims to raise its annual production capacity there from 6.25 million to approximately 8 million motorcycles by 2028. That figure is a capacity target, not a claim that this volume has already been produced.
Honda calls India its largest motorcycle market and expects its factories there to serve export destinations, including Southeast Asia and Central and South America. The company also forecasts a global motorcycle market of around 60 million units a year by 2030.
The manufacturer also plans new products for customers moving into different categories of transport, while assessing demand for electric motorcycles market by market. The capacity target shows how important production and supply outside Europe are to Honda’s growth plans.
