Honda introduced SENSING RIDE at the Milan motorcycle show on 3 November. The rider assistance suite uses millimetre wave radar units at the front and rear of the motorcycle. Its first planned application is the 2027 model year CRF1150L Africa Twin Adventure Sports. Honda says it intends to extend the technology to further models, without naming sales dates for those models in this announcement.

The announced functions include adaptive cruise control, forward collision warnings and information about vehicles in blind spots. Paired with Honda’s dual clutch transmission, the system is also designed to assist with stopping and setting off again in slow traffic. A group riding function aims to help maintain distance between motorcycles, including when riders travel in a staggered formation.

The distinction is the system’s role: it assists the rider rather than taking over the ride. Honda notes that recognition and control functions have limits and may be affected by road, weather or motorcycle conditions. These features should therefore be understood as extra information and assistance while the motorcyclist remains responsible for their line, following distance and response to traffic.
