Italy's vehicle registry recorded 58,378 motorcycle ownership transfers in September 2026. The comparable figure for September 2025 was 56,960, making the year-on-year increase 2.5%. Across the first nine months of 2026, transfers in the same category were 1.7% higher than during the equivalent period a year earlier. The figures describe the movement of existing vehicles between owners rather than new registrations.
The registry also recorded 10,615 motorcycle removals in September, down from 11,201 a year earlier, a fall of 5.2%. A transfer and a removal are different administrative events. The first gives a view of activity in the used market; the second records a change in a vehicle's registration status. Subtracting one from the other would not reveal how many motorcycles are available for sale.
A single month's rise does not establish what happened to prices or demand for particular models. Taken with the nine-month increase, however, it shows that Italy's used motorcycle market remained active through 2026. For a buyer, the national figures provide context; the documents, mechanical condition and maintenance history of an individual motorcycle still matter far more at the point of purchase.
