Kintyre 66 is a 66-mile, roughly 106-kilometre loop on the peninsula’s public A83 and B842 roads. Six spurs offer ways to extend the journey. When planning a motorcycle trip, count the main loop and your chosen side trips separately: those detours will add to the total distance.

The west coast offers views towards Islay and Jura, while the eastern road follows Kilbrannan Sound with Arran across the water. Possible stops include Carradale’s sandy bay or Saddell, where a beach visit can be combined with the ruined abbey and its medieval grave slabs.

Parts of the route use narrow single-track roads with passing places. Keep these clear for traffic and use proper parking areas for photographs. Expect cyclists, walkers, horse riders and animals on the road. Mobile reception can be limited, so bring a paper map as well.
