Copenhagen lends itself to three unhurried rides, each revealing a different side of the city. The suggested itinerary covers about 15 kilometres on day one, 20 on day two and 18 on day three. These are sightseeing days with time to stop, rather than rides to complete at speed.
The first day follows the harbour from the centre towards Christianshavn, with the Citadel and the Inderhavnsbroen bridge along the way. Day two turns to Nørrebro’s streets, Superkilen park and the greener avenues of Frederiksberg. Together, the rides move from the historic waterfront into the neighbourhoods where everyday city life unfolds.
On day three, the route heads towards Amager Nature Park and Refshaleøen, trading dense streets for more open scenery. Before setting off, learn the local flow of bicycle traffic: keep right on cycle paths, pass on the left and signal turns or stops in good time. Central paths can be busy at rush hour.
