Ljungleden is a 170-kilometre regional cycling route from Gothenburg to Falköping. Its value is more than another line on a map: in Gothenburg it joins the coastal Kattegattleden, while at Falköping it meets Ätradalsleden, which continues through inland West Sweden. Riders can therefore choose a single section or build a longer journey by connecting established signed routes.

Most of Ljungleden follows asphalt on quieter roads and cycle paths, though some sections are gravel. From central Gothenburg the route begins near the main railway station, then follows a former railway embankment towards Floda. Farther along, Alingsås offers a café stop and Vårgårda offers a glimpse of local cycling history. Heather, woodland and farmland give the journey a changing character between the towns.

There is no need to cover the entire route at once. Settlements and train stops along the way make shorter rides possible; carrying a bicycle on a train depends on available space, so check the connection before departure. For a day section, allow for the gravel stretches and time away from the saddle. Ljungleden shows how a regional route can bridge coast and inland while leaving riders free to travel at their own pace.
