Norway’s Lofoten scenic route runs between Raftsundet and Å, following the E10 with detours including Henningsvær, Eggum and Nusfjord. The official route totals 230 kilometres. It can be travelled without a ferry, while sea crossings offer alternative approaches to the islands.
Henningsvær makes a natural longer stop: bridges connect the small islands of this fishing village, which also has galleries and craft shops. The approach from the E10 is narrow and busy in summer. Leave the motorcycle in a suitable parking area and explore the harbour streets on foot.
Farther southwest, Reinehalsen sits at the foot of Reinebringen. The viewpoint looks towards Reine village, the surrounding peaks and the entrance to Reinefjord. It offers a reason to break the ride and enjoy the landscape away from the moving traffic.
Build flexibility into the itinerary. Summer traffic is heaviest from July to around mid-August, and quieter months can still bring snow or slippery roads. The 2026 visitor guidance flags night closures for work in Nappstraumtunnelen. Check current road notices before departure, especially before planning a late arrival.
