In 2003, Lois Pryce left her job at the BBC’s record label and took a small dirtbike from Alaska to the southern tip of South America. The journey of roughly 20,000 miles, or 32,000 kilometres, later became Lois on the Loose.
Her next major ride, from London to Cape Town, became the basis for Red Tape and White Knuckles. Revolutionary Ride follows her solo motorcycle journey around Iran and was shortlisted for the Edward Stanford Adventure Travel Book of the Year award.
Pryce’s writing career also developed through journalism and teaching nonfiction. Her experience offers a reminder that a motorcycle journey can be preserved in more than a route and an odometer reading: notes about people and everyday encounters can become a story of their own.
