La Loire à Vélo follows the Loire towards the Atlantic. Its 900-kilometre total includes loops and variants; the main line is about 630 kilometres long. A first visit can focus on a much shorter section.
The roughly 80-kilometre ride from Blois to Tours is one option, taking in Chaumont-sur-Loire and Amboise along the way. Riverside stops and château visits can set the pace.
Chaumont offers a château and gardens, while Amboise has its castle and Clos Lucé, associated with Leonardo da Vinci. These stops deserve more time than a quick photograph.
Consider dividing the section over two days. Choose accommodation and places to visit before setting a daily distance target, so the bicycle becomes a way to discover the valley at leisure.
