Motoball combines motorcycle control with the logic of football. Each team fields four players on specially adapted motorcycles and a goalkeeper who moves on foot. Only the goalkeeper may occupy the goal area, so attacks must be built outside that zone.
The July 2026 European championship took place in Skuodas, Lithuania. Germany retained the title with a 3–1 final victory over France. The Lithuanian hosts took bronze, recovering from 0–3 down to beat the Netherlands 5–3 in the third-place match.
Senior European championship semi-finals and finals have four 20-minute periods. A player cannot simply carry the ball across the halfway line: it must be passed. Motorcycle control is therefore only part of the game; teammates’ movement and the timing of a pass matter just as much.
When watching for the first time, follow the players without the ball as well: who creates space, offers a passing option or drops back to defend? This reveals motoball as a blend of coordinated tactics and precise riding.
