Oil leakage, unusual noises or changes in motorcycle handling warrant a shock inspection. Servicing may also be due before visible symptoms appear. Timing depends on the unit’s instructions, age, mileage and operating conditions; there is no universal interval for every motorcycle.

Nitron’s factory service records existing settings, dismantles and inspects the unit, replaces seals, and refills it with fresh oil and nitrogen to specification. Performance is checked too. This work belongs with the manufacturer or an approved service centre.

Before contacting the workshop, identify the unit. Nitron advises wiping the shock clean and finding its stamped number: usually two letters followed by three digits, although older models may differ. The marking’s location also varies with type and year.

It is useful to note the last service date, mileage and when any symptoms occur. This gives the technician a practical starting point for discussing the particular shock and the work it may need.
