After a ride, resist scrubbing dried insects straight away. For the shell and visor, use lukewarm water, a little neutral liquid soap and a clean soft cloth where the model’s instructions allow. Soften stubborn dirt with a wet tissue first. Glass cleaners and solvents are unsuitable for helmet care.
Wash removable padding according to the manual; clean fixed sections gently without pulling them out. Avoid denting or scratching the impact-absorbing polystyrene layer. Inspect the visor as you clean: scratches can interfere with vision in rain and reflected light. A damaged visor needs replacement, rather than harder scrubbing.
Treat the anti-fog insert separately. Current Pinlock instructions specify rinsing with mineral water, then carefully removing remaining marks with a clean, wet microfiber cloth. Let the insert and visor dry naturally upright before reassembly. Once installed, check in daylight that the silicone seal contacts the visor all the way around.
