Safer motorcycle riding begins before the engine starts. Tyre pressure, tread, brake feel and lights are small checks that can prevent much bigger problems on the road.
European road-safety material regularly treats motorcyclists as more vulnerable road users. That does not mean riding timidly. It means riding with margin: looking further ahead, braking earlier and not leaving mechanical checks to the last moment.
Before a daily ride, a short routine is enough: look over the tyres, check both brakes, switch on the lights and make sure the helmet and protective gear fit properly. This matters especially after the bike has been parked for a while or after sharp weather changes.
Good mechanical condition does not make a rider invulnerable, but it gives more time to react. Those few seconds are often the difference between a calm stop and a situation that depends on luck.
