Make and model are only a starting point when choosing a motorcycle cover. A taller windscreen, backrest and luggage change the space required beneath the fabric. Nelson-Rigg treats its fitting charts as a guide: choose for the motorcycle with the accessories that will remain fitted while it is covered.
Before buying, measure length and width in straight lines, without bending the tape around bodywork. Account for both the widest front section, such as the mirrors, and rear luggage. Compare height using the particular chart’s measuring diagram. The same letter size across different cover ranges does not guarantee the same fit.
For an outdoor cover, inspect the construction too. Oxford’s Stormex Topbox, for example, accommodates a top box and includes ventilation to reduce condensation plus an adjustable belly strap. These details help assess suitability for a parking spot beyond simply comparing fabric thickness.
Heat-resistant lining does not mean a cover may rest on a hot exhaust: Oxford prohibits that contact even with this model. Compare dimensions, fastenings and usage instructions before ordering. If fit remains uncertain, give the retailer the motorcycle’s measurements and a list of fitted accessories.
