Five major European motorcycle markets registered 944,129 new motorcycles in the first nine months of 2026, a 14.6% increase on the same period last year. The figure covers France, Germany, Italy, Spain and the UK; it is not a total for all of Europe. Even with that limit, the comparison shows that growth is spread across several markets rather than confined to one country.

Registrations increased in each of the five countries, though at different rates. Germany rose 24.1%, Spain 20.9%, the UK 14.6%, Italy 10.9% and France 4.8%. Italy remained the largest of the group in absolute terms with 313,095 new registrations, followed by Spain with 221,236. The distinction between growth rate and market size matters: the fastest-growing country is not necessarily the biggest market.

Mopeds are reported separately across six markets: Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, the Netherlands and Spain. Those countries recorded 118,544 new mopeds over nine months, up 7% year on year. Because the motorcycle and moped sets cover different countries, the two figures should not be combined into a single European total. The full-year picture will still depend on registrations in the final quarter.
