When choosing motorcycle jeans, look for EN 17092 certification of the whole garment. A, AA and AAA impose different requirements on materials and construction; AAA requirements exceed those of AA and A. The garment class and an individual impact protector’s Level 1 or Level 2 rating are separate assessments.
Bend your knees into a riding position when trying the jeans on and check where the armour sits. Height-adjustable pockets help position it. Also establish whether hip protectors are included or sold separately. Having armour pockets does not mean every insert is included in the price.
Consider your riding conditions too. Everyday riding jeans, ventilated summer trousers and trousers with a waterproof membrane meet different needs. For regular wet-weather journeys, examine the waterproof construction; for warm weather, consider ventilation. Compare the complete purchase: trousers, the required protectors and a suitable fit.
