The route to top-level motorcycle racing begins long before a rider reaches a world championship grid. On 21 October MotoGP announced MotoGP Academy, a plan for an international network of racing schools and institutions developing young riders. It will sit within the Road to MotoGP pathway, with particular attention to regions where high-quality racing instruction is currently less accessible.

A school will not gain the designation by changing its name alone. To qualify, partners must meet requirements covering facilities, teaching methods, technical execution and how the programme presents itself. MotoGP also promises support to help each participating school develop. The idea is to connect the quality of local coaching with a broader international pathway while making each school a regional gathering point for the sport.

Academies are expected to carry a country, region or continent in their name; larger markets may have more than one. The announcement does not yet identify the first locations, admission criteria or participation costs. For prospective riders and families, the next useful milestone will be the naming of actual schools and the chance to compare what their instruction offers. If delivered, the programme could make the step from a local circuit to the next level of competition clearer and more accessible.
