Leather motorcycle boots benefit from careful attention after a wet ride. Remove dirt with a cloth or soft shoe brush; a pressure washer is unsuitable for leather. Dry wet boots at room temperature, away from radiators and direct sunlight.

For GORE-TEX footwear, shake sand and debris out of the inside too, removing and shaking out removable insoles separately. Avoid washing machines and bleach. Choose leather cleaning products according to the boot manufacturer’s instructions.

When water stops beading and running off the outer material, its water-repellent treatment may need renewing. Waxes and greasy products can reduce breathability in membrane footwear. A treatment for smooth leather may also be unsuitable for nubuck: check the care instructions for your specific model.
