Western Australia’s Munda Biddi links Mundaring on Perth’s eastern fringe with Albany on the south coast. Its roughly 1,000 kilometres combine singletrack, forest tracks and some public-road sections. A shorter, straightforward section near a town offers a manageable introduction.
Purpose-built cycling camps provide sleeping shelters, tent sites, toilets and rainwater tanks. Shelters cannot be reserved, so a tent provides a fallback. Water quantity and quality are not guaranteed: carry an emergency drinking-water reserve and treat tank water before drinking.
Navigate with the official paper maps, trail app and on-ground signs together. Check Park Alerts before departure and follow diversion signs. A downloaded route line may omit temporary changes, while mobile reception is limited in remote sections.
Season matters. December to March can bring severe heat and fire danger; cooler months generally suit riding better. Check weather, fire-danger forecasts and closures before each stage. Campfires are prohibited at the trail camps, and distances between resupply points need planning in advance.
