The National Cycle Museum in Llandrindod Wells holds over 260 cycles, from an 1818 pedal-free hobby horse to carbon-fibre designs. Club badges, jerseys, lamps and maps sit alongside the machines, offering a way to explore the everyday lives of the people who rode them.
The museum opened in the Automobile Palace on 21 March 1997. The following year, bicycles arrived from the closed National Cycle Museum in Lincoln. The building has its own transport history: its first section dates to 1911, and it was originally known as the Palace of Sport.
Plan for a specific visiting day. The published schedule lists Mondays and Tuesdays, 10am–4pm, and most Saturdays, 10am–2pm. Bank Holiday Mondays are excluded. Check current exceptions before travelling; the museum also provides wheelchair access.
