Nannup in Western Australia hosted the 2026 Gravel World Championships on 10 and 11 October, the first edition held outside Europe. The women’s elite course measured 125.6 kilometres and climbed more than 3,000 metres, with most of the route on gravel roads. The terrain demanded more than speed: riders had to preserve enough strength for the decisive kilometres.
Marianne Vos broke clear about four kilometres from the finish to win her second title in the discipline. Germany’s Rosa Klöser finished 27 seconds later, with Larissa Hartog third. Vos had also won in 2024, making her the first rider with two elite titles at the Gravel World Championships.
The men’s elite race covered 144 kilometres and came down to a four-rider sprint. Denmark’s Magnus Bak Klaris beat Belgium’s Florian Vermeersch and Great Britain’s Connor Swift to the line. A solo move and a tight sprint offered two contrasting routes to the same reward: a world champion’s rainbow jersey.
