The Dutch motorcycle market passed an annual milestone before the final quarter began. From January through September 2026, 20,035 new motorcycles were registered, 15.3% more than in the same period a year earlier. That total already exceeds the full-year figure of 19,567 in 2025 and the previous record of 19,819 set in 2024. The rise in new registrations is therefore broader than a single strong month.
The third quarter accounted for 6,003 new registrations, compared with 5,182 a year earlier; September alone brought 1,616. Meanwhile, 121,954 used motorcycles changed owners in the first nine months, just 0.4% fewer than in the comparable 2025 period. New registrations and used ownership transfers measure different transactions and should not be combined into one sales total. Together, they show new-bike growth alongside a large, broadly steady used market.
The most-registered new model was the BMW R1300 GS, with 827 units, followed by the Kawasaki Z 900 at 566 and Z 650 at 515. The leading models cover different types of road riding, but their ranking alone does not explain the market’s overall growth. These figures describe the Netherlands specifically; they should not be treated as a forecast for Latvia, where supply and buyer preferences may differ.
