The “From the Gauja to the Daugava” cycling route links Līgatne and Skrīveri over 72 kilometres, passing through Nītaure, Zaube and Ķeipene. It is a linear route that can also be started elsewhere or ridden in reverse, giving cyclists room to shape a day ride or break the distance into stages.

The route description says the roads are mostly paved, with gravel in places. Its stops bring together natural and cultural sights in the Līgatne, Amata, Ogre and Skrīveri areas. The course is not waymarked, so save its GPX track before setting off and plan how to get back from the finish.

The route organisers recommend May to September, with summer the preferred season. When planning a future warm-weather ride, allow time for the gravel sections and for stops along the way. Its appeal lies as much in discovering smaller Vidzeme communities at your own pace as in covering the distance between two rivers.
