Austria’s Nockalmstrasse links Innerkrems and Ebene Reichenau. Its 34 kilometres and 52 bends pass through the Nockberge Biosphere Reserve, among rounded summits, mountain pastures and forests. A short distance need not mean a hurried ride.
Dedicated motorcycle rest areas sit at Eisentalhöhe and Schiestlscharte beside the Glockenhütte. Free equipment lockers make it easier to add a walk to a stop, while exhibitions along the road offer a closer look at mountain nature and local life.
The usual season runs from early May to late October. Motorcycles may travel between 08:00 and 18:00, with final entry at 17:15. Check current road conditions, weather and tolls before setting off. Leave time for stops instead of building the day around the final admission time.
