In North Latgale, marked cycle route 776, the Numernes Loop, offers a 30-kilometre ride through the Numernes valnis nature park. The route is graded moderate, and its defining feature is the rolling terrain. It is more than a distance to cover before the finish: views of woodland and the ridge change along the way, making stops part of the ride rather than an interruption.

The park’s 20-metre observation tower gives the journey a natural pause. It opens a broad view over the surrounding countryside, while two stargazing chairs nearby also offer a place to sit and take in the landscape by day. The tower works as a focal point for the route, setting a rhythm between climbs, forest sections and a rest with a view.

Thirty kilometres can sound modest, but the moderate grade and hills make it sensible to plan a pace for the terrain rather than the distance alone. Check the weather and current route conditions before setting out, particularly outside the warmer months. The Numernes Loop shows how a day ride can feel substantial without being long, when the road itself offers changing scenery and reasons to stop.
