The Ogre Valley loop is a 35-kilometre cycling route shaped around a river landscape rather than a single town stop. Marked as route 163 in both directions, it can be started anywhere on the circuit. It passes through the Ogre Valley nature park, where meadow-like clearings and mixed oak, elm and ash woodland line the river. A cable bridge over the Ogre, a viewing platform and a lookout tower offer reasons to pause along the way.

The route map describes an approximately even split between asphalt and gravel or earth roads. It is worth choosing tyres and a pace that suit both surfaces. The loop passes through Ogresmuiža, Meņģele and Taurupe, crosses the Sumulda River and joins a Greenways section. That makes the ride more than a distance target: the changing surfaces and stops leave room to take in the valley instead of treating it as a timed circuit.

There is also an optional section that is not signposted. It offers different views, but parts may be difficult to ride after rain. For an autumn outing, take the route map and allow for shorter daylight, especially if you plan to stop by the river. The main signed loop remains a straightforward choice for riders who want countryside and nature without committing to the unmarked detour.
