The Ojos Negros greenway follows the former Sierra Menera mining railway. In the Region of Valencia, riding from the Barracas plateau takes you down towards the Palancia river valley and coastal farmland. Direction matters: travelling the other way means climbing back towards the uplands.
Caudiel, Jérica, Navajas and Segorbe offer places to break the journey into shorter stages with stops. Tunnels and viewpoints add variety, while a longer trip can reach València by linking to the Vía Verde Xurra. Include that connecting section when planning the day’s distance.
The surface alternates between tarmac and compacted earth. Choose a bicycle you can comfortably ride on both, bring lights for the tunnels and check current diversions before setting off. Arrange accommodation and return transport around the endpoint of your chosen stage.
