Passo Manghen rises to 2,047 metres in the Lagorai range of Italy’s Trentino region. The southern approach leads from Borgo Valsugana through Val Calamento, while the northern side descends through Val Cadino to Molina di Fiemme. The crossing connects two distinct valleys in a single ride.
The road was built in 1958 along an older mule-track route. Approaching from Valsugana, woodland beyond Telve gradually gives way to pastures and open mountain slopes. The pass can also form part of a wider loop from Trento through the Piné plateau and Val di Fiemme, returning past lakes Levico and Caldonazzo.
Allow time for stops and the winding climb rather than planning solely by distance. The Manghen road has a winter closure period; check current SP 31 traffic notices and mountain weather before setting off. Keep accommodation and return-route plans flexible enough to take an alternative if the pass is closed.
