Dario Pegoretti began learning framebuilding under Luigino Milani in the mid-1970s. After Pegoretti died in 2018, Pietro Pietricola and Cristina Würdig continued the workshop. Today, the Verona Bottega still works in steel, with frames made and finished by hand.
An order starts with a conversation about where and how the customer rides, followed by an assessment of riding position. Tube preparation, joining and alignment come next. Even standard-geometry frames are built to order. The sequence reveals how many decisions lie behind the apparently simple outline of two triangles.
The finish choices include solid colours, graphic patterns and Ciavete: freeform compositions that are never repeated. Graphics are painted by hand rather than applied as transfers. This makes Pegoretti an interesting example of applied art: an object with a clear purpose on the road also leaves room for highly individual visual expression.
