An approximately 20-kilometre route follows the Gauja’s left bank from Rāmkalni to Sigulda railway station. It begins in more settled surroundings, then enters national-park forest beyond Gauja village. Short paved sections give way to gravel roads and paths, making this a ride for exploring at an unhurried pace rather than holding a steady road-bike speed.
Katlapu Rock and the Lorupe ravine lie along the way. Near Sigulda, the route climbs towards viewpoints over the Gauja valley. The climbs by the Egļupe and Lorupe ravines demand more effort than the distance alone suggests. A mountain or trekking bike suits the mixed surface better than narrow road tyres, and a full day leaves room for stops.
Some waymarks are absent near Gauja village, and the signs are easier to spot when travelling in the opposite direction from Sigulda. Save a route map before setting off and check junctions carefully. The finish at Sigulda station makes it easy to end the ride in town or plan a longer journey through the national park.
