Saaremaa suits a journey where the road is more than a link between sights. Start in Kuressaare by its medieval castle, then ride inland towards the Kaali meteorite crater. These two stops tell very different island stories: one shaped by people, the other by a natural event whose traces remain in the landscape.
Kaali’s main crater is about 110 metres across, with eight smaller depressions nearby. Another stop is Angla, home to a group of five preserved windmills and a heritage centre. Four are post mills; the fifth is an eight-sided Dutch-style mill. Linking these places gives the ride a relaxed rhythm and leaves time to explore each stop on foot.
If the day allows another leg, Panga Cliff brings a change of scenery at the coast. Its highest exposed section reaches 21.3 metres. Check your chosen roads and attraction opening times before setting off, then leave room in the schedule: some of Saaremaa’s best moments begin after the motorcycle is parked.
