Slea Head Drive starts and finishes in Dingle, western Ireland. The recommended direction is clockwise through Ventry. Allow at least half a day for a leisurely motorcycle ride with stops; narrow sections can still carry oncoming local traffic.
Follow local road signs. Kerry’s 2026 summer traffic-management initiative was scheduled through 11 September, so an October trip should not rely on the summer staffing arrangements. The coastal route passes Fahan, Slea Head, Coumeenole and Dunquin; a navigation shortcut can divert riders from the intended loop.
The Blasket Centre in Dunquin explores island life and Irish-language literature. The last residents left Great Blasket in 1953. Its exhibitions and viewing platform overlooking the islands add historical context to the coastal scenery.
