Spain’s market for motorcycles and light vehicles grew 21.9% in September compared with the same month a year earlier. Industry association ANESDOR recorded 30,696 registrations. The total covers scooters, motorcycles, mopeds and other light vehicles, so it should not be read as a figure for motorcycles alone.

Scooters made up most of the month’s volume: 17,146 registrations, or 55.9% of the total market. Their numbers rose 27.9%, while the motorcycle segment grew 13.7% and mopeds grew 6.2%. The different rates show how strongly urban commuter vehicles contributed to the overall rise.

From January through September, Spain registered 241,361 vehicles across the light-vehicle category covered by the figures, an increase of 21.3% on the comparable period a year earlier. Private buyers accounted for 91% of September volume. These are Spanish market figures and cannot simply be applied to Latvia, but they show the weight of scooters in southern European urban mobility.
