SRAM’s new factory project in Coimbra reached its foundation-stone ceremony in September. The planned investment is €57 million, with more than 500 new jobs expected. Operations are targeted to begin in mid-2028.
The planned 25,000-square-metre factory will broaden the range of components produced in Europe. Capacity is scheduled to increase through 2032. Chain production and TIME pedal and Zipp wheel assembly will remain at the existing Coimbra facilities.
For riders, this is a story about where parts are made and how they reach bicycle manufacturers. A factory project alone does not determine future shop prices or delivery dates for individual components.
