British designer Mark Sanders developed STRiDA during his studies, completing the project in 1985. Production began in 1987. Its distinctive A-shaped frame answered an urban need for a bicycle that was easy to fold.
Three tubes and three joints form a triangle. Folding brings them together into a narrow wheeled shape that can be guided by hand, inspired by a children’s pushchair.
A belt drive and compact storage suit city use. The folded form supports switching between cycling, walking and onward travel by train or bus. Folding becomes part of the whole journey.
