Suleskarvegen links the Sirdal and Setesdal areas and continues towards Dalen and Høydalsmo in Telemark. For a motorcycle traveller, it offers a way to combine mountain stretches with inhabited valleys. Its appeal lies in the changing landscape and road: bends, climbs and descents give the journey a rhythm worth taking slowly.
The road is narrow in places, with single-lane sections and passing points. Håhelleren, beside Roskreppfjorden, offers a designated rest area instead of occupying space needed by oncoming vehicles. Sheep graze along the mountain section from summer into autumn and may enter the road; adjust speed to visibility and conditions.
The winter-closed section lies between Brokke and Suleskard. It usually opens from May 21 to November 1, but snow and weather can alter that period. Check current road notices and the forecast before departure. The published season is a planning guide, rather than confirmation that the crossing will be passable on a particular day.
