In Utrecht, the ride to the train can continue after entering the station complex. The Stationsplein bicycle parking facility beside Central Station holds 12,500 bikes across three levels, with a continuous cycle route running through it. Riders can enter and leave from either side. Traffic inside flows one way and has a 15 km/h speed limit. The full facility opened in 2019.

For a daily traveller, the route from bicycle to train matters more than the headline capacity. The parking facility provides access to the platforms, buses and station hall. Digital signs direct riders towards available spaces, while numbered rows help them find their bikes on the return trip. It is open around the clock, and the first 24 hours of parking are free.

The building also houses about 1,000 public transport rental bikes, a repair and service point, and spaces for bicycles with wider handlebars or front crates. Stationsplein shows how parking can become part of a journey: an easy approach and a clear route to the train matter as much as a secure place to leave the bike.
