Germany’s bicycle market contracted in 2025, but the decline was modest. Figures published by ZIV on 11 March 2026 record 3.8 million bicycles and e-bikes sold, down 3.9% from the previous year.
E-bikes accounted for 52.7% of units sold. Their average selling price across all sales channels was €2550, compared with €500 for conventional bicycles. These are market averages, not valuations of an individual model.
Workshop turnover grew by 13%. The industry review also highlights the expanding market for professionally refurbished bicycles, with bikes returning from leasing schemes entering resale. New-bike sales alone therefore do not tell the whole industry story.

For buyers in Latvia, these figures do not determine future prices at a local shop. Comparing a particular bicycle’s equipment, mechanical condition and servicing options is more useful, especially when considering a refurbished e-bike.
